Coming Out

August 25th, 2009 Comments off

I just came out to my mom.  Sort of.  Halfway.  I told her I’m bisexual.  She told me she didn’t want to know anything else.

Not because she has a problem with me being bisexual.  She said it doesn’t change who I am.  That it’s mine and M’s business and not hers.  But because I told her I wasn’t yet willing to take the risk of her losing respect for M if I told her the rest of my sordid little secret.

She said that she wasn’t interested in hearing my secret if I wasn’t comfortable with telling her.  And she said that I know her well enough that I’m probably right.

It’s decided.  I will never intentionally tell my parents about me being a slave.  Ever.  Because it will not go over with them at all.

But what about you? Have you told your family? Your friends?

How’d they take it?

National Equality March (AKA Real Post #2… Sort of.)

August 25th, 2009 4 comments

Okay, so this isn’t really a real post.  It’s an advertisement.  But it’s an advertisement for a really good cause.  So it counts as a real post, right? Oh hush up, you.  And keep reading.

On October 10th, 2009, people from all over the nation will be gathering to march on Washington.

“Our One Single Demand:

Equal protection in all matters governed by civil law in all 50 states. We will accept no less and will work until it is achieved.  Equality Across America exists to support grassroots organizing in all 435 Congressional Districts to achieve full equality.

Equal Protection encompasses many issues, including:

  • Repeal of the Defense of Marriage Act (DOMA) so that every marriage in every state has the same federal rights.
  • Repeal of Don’t Ask, Don’t Tell so that LGBT persons may serve in the military openly and with the same rights as their straight counterparts.
  • An end to workplace discrimination for everyone with an Employment Non-Discrimination Act (ENDA) that protects everyone.
  • The right to adopt children and raise families like any other parents.
  • Hate Crimes legislation that includes LGBT people and protects us like any other targeted group.
  • Immigration reform that recognizes same-sex couples and ends the needless separation of families.
  • A comprehensive anti-bullying policy in our schools via the Safe Schools Improvement Act.”*

If that doesn’t sink it for you, check out this commentary over at and see if that makes you want to march.  If I wanted M to resign before, I really want Him to now.  Cause then His lack of PTO wouldn’t matter and we could be at the march.  Read more…

Pass the Patron and a Pillow, Please?

August 25th, 2009 2 comments

I’m not really sure how I’m pulling off three real posts for each of the non-real posts I’ve done since yesterday.  I have pretty much nothing to say and I’ve got a shitload to do between now and tomorrow at 11am.  I better figure it out, though, so I don’t get banned from participating, huh?

Today in a word? Suckage.

I’m cranky and irritable and falling quickly into the “Nothing ever works.  No one likes me.  I suck.”  mindset.  I know what’s destroying my normal “We’ll bounce back.” attitude.  But knowing isn’t changing the voices in my head.  Or what they’re saying.

M got a promotion.  You’d think that would be really friggin cool, right? Except:

  • He’s not getting a raise and He makes $10k less than the person who is now under Him in the chain of command.
  • They’re not taking anything off His plate.  Except a couple projects that can’t be worked because they won’t buy the equipment needed.
  • They’re singling Him out on every. single. policy they possibly can while saying “We can’t survive as a company without you.  Please don’t leave!”
  • They won’t offer Him any compensation whatsoever for the extra work He does.
  • They actually dock His pay for being late, out sick or working from home even though He works at least 60 hours a week regardless of whether or not He’s in the office.
  • They have actually given Him attitude because He asked to be allowed to work remotely a couple days a month instead of getting a raise until they could afford to give Him a raise.
  • They know He can’t quit without killing us so they treat Him like dog shit.

They told Him that maybe they’ll reconsider compensation at the end of September.  Maybe.

He doesn’t deserve this.  Read more…
