Volunteering

July 14th, 2007

Heâ??s the chairman of the board. Theyâ??re looking for
volunteers to help with the upkeep of the cemetery. I bit my tongue not wanting
to speak out of turn but my heart leaped up into my throat. Then it did a
number of somersaults when Masterâ??s face lit up and He said, â??Actually, I think
thatâ??s something weâ??d be interested in.â?

I had no idea what to write todayâ?¦ then Master took me
walking.

We went to one of the local cemeteries. Itâ??s huge. Over 40,000
people are buried there. We were wondering and enjoying the sights â?? read:
chasing a monarch butterfly around â?? when suddenly this minivan flies up out of
nowhere. An older man, probably in his fifties, got out of the van and asked if
we were looking for a specific grave. Upon expressing our enthusiasm for the
entire cemetery, the man told us who he was.

When I was a kid, I had a babysitter who lived right on the
edge of a cemetery. She was extremely superstitious and wouldnâ??t allow us to
look around in it believing that was inviting the spirits of the dead into your
home. I used to daydream about being the caretaker. About being free to wander
the cemetery as long as I wanted. I was fascinated with the idea.

I still am. This is going to be so awesome.
